Gran Turismo 5 hundred times more detailed than GT4

Father of Gran Turismo Kazunori Yamauchi, talked about Gran Turismo 5 for PS3 to a Croatian car mag, and said that GT5 will be about hundred times more detailed than GT4. Now where he got his numbers from I don’t know, and it might just have been something he said to make it clear that GT5 is going to be an amazing looking game. Or it could hint at that the car models in GT5 would be made up from about 100 times more polygons than the cars in GT4. Since GT4 for uses 5000 polygons per car, this would add up to 500 000 polygons per car which is an insane high number, and possibly a big waste of graphical power which could be put into the landscape instead. Again, this is just me rambling on so for now stick to what Kazunori Yamauchi said. He also mentioned that the game would come out some time in 2007.
